About

Hi, my name is Eline “Jay” Nijdam and I am a Scottish-Dutch artist currently based in The Netherlands.
Like many artists, I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. Throughout my childhood I had phases in which I would draw only specific things. These depended on whatever media I was heavily invested in at the time – the most influential ones include golden-age Disney, Dondald Duck, Star Wars, Kung Fu Panda, Eragon, and Pokémon.
My family moved every 4-ish years because of work, so throughout my life I have visited and lived in various countries including England, Scotland and Oman. I studied a BSc in Mathematics with Physics at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and later moved to The Netherlands for an MSc in Astronomy Research at Leiden University.
During the Covid lockdowns, I decided a career in academia was not for me after all, and I changed direction to pursue a career in concept art for film and videogames. Since then, I have been working part-time in bookstores – because books are another love of mine – and using my free time to hone my art skills, learn about the concept art industry, and work on my art portfolio.
Since 2022, I have had the pleasure of working on a number of film and music-related projects as a freelance illustrator. Clients include the Eye Filmmuseum Amsterdam, EDM producer (and brother) Ian Robert, and South Korean percussion group Variety E-Seo.
